Rupert Davis
Board (Executive Chair)
Rupert is a climate leadership and impact investment entrepreneur focused on ecological finance and accelerating the transition to a "one planet" regenerative economy, that serves all.
His executive search company Sustainable Means helps institutional investors, starts-up and large corporations move their money and their operations away from the destructive fossil fuel economy into the new green economy and a hopeful future, by providing them with the leaders to drive the changes.
Rupert was an ecological activist as a teenager, and first came to the community in 1991 while at university. He had a close connection to Eileen Caddy, one of the founders.
He studied Theology, Philosophy and Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where he boxed for the university (British silver medallist). As a senior scholar at Girton, he won the CU Bronowski prize for the top first in his year. He conducted PhD studies as a Fulbright Scholar at the California Institute of Integral Studies.
His original professional training (finance) was at JP Morgan and at Regent’s College, London (psychotherapy) and he has a non-denominational devotional spiritual practice.
He has volunteered for Ecovillage Findhorn since May 2023 because he saw the community and its economics in great difficulty and its spiritual culture and ecological innovation teetering due to these economic stressors. He believes that the best chance for the area to regenerate itself and have success into the future is to introduce democracy and community ownership - so that leading-edge ecological and social innovation happens; leaders are mandated and held fully accountable; and younger people once again wish to visit, participate and lead us into the future, here. This is somewhat of a revolution!
