Anne Skene
Board Member (Deputy Chair)
I graduated from the University of Aberdeen as an educational psychologist and teacher and have enjoyed a full career as a mainstream teacher and manager of provision for children with additional support needs.
Alongside that, I founded my own educational business and for 20 years provided consultancy, instruction and teacher training both in Scotland and internationally. With a passion for the arts in education, I founded and managed a successful drama academy in Fife, with a roll of 350 young people aged 5-18.
In 2012 I was elected to Moray Council as a Councillor for the Forres Ward and was given responsibility for chairing the Children and Young People’s Services Committee, Corporate Parenting and Appointments committees.
I have spent recent years managing a family farm in Fife and I am very involved with building and developing a school in western Kenya which has developed into a centre of excellence.
I have a long history of involvement and of holding office in various community groups and currently Chair the Findhorn and Kinloss Community Council. In the Ecovillage community, I have chaired the Caring Community Circle and am a trustee of Ecologia Youth Trust and director of Universal Hall Promotions. In addition, I sit on the boards of Newbold Legacy Trust, Community Energy Moray, Wildthings and Kinloss Abbey Trust.
Working on boards involved in health and social care, international education, arts and entertainment, project development, renewable energy, environmental education, history and conservation has given me extensive experience and wide-ranging board skills which I can contribute to Ecovillage Findhorn.
