Dorota Owen
Director - Education
I’m willing to contribute wherever needed for the benefit of our community, and I believe
my skills and experience are particularly relevant to Global Communications, Outreach, and Education.
As a GEN Ambassador for over a decade and as a former Co-Director of Kalikalos in Greece, I bring wide experience as a networker with long-standing relationships across China, Australia,
New Zealand, Europe, and North America.
As an Interfaith Minister, I run workshops, give talks, and build connections with communities
worldwide.
Having lived in Forres for two decades, I supported three children as a single mother while
working as a supply teacher in more than 200 schools across Highland, Moray, Aberdeen and
Greater London, gaining deep insight into both mainstream and alternative education systems.
I co-created the Northern Lights conference series at the Universal Hall with Joan Wilmot and
organised events with Thomas Hübl and other visiting teachers.
My four years as an NFA Councillor and ten years as Co-Chair of Newbold Trust have prepared
me well for board service in a community context.
Earlier, I worked as an educational consultant and freelance teacher in Muscat, Oman.
Originally trained as an architect, I hold an MA (Hons) in Architecture and Art — a subject I
remain passionate about. Though my career evolved into teaching, I continue to care deeply
about design, form, and the preservation of special buildings.
