Welcome to The Universal Hall
Nestled within the Findhorn Ecovillage, the Universal Hall stands as a living testament to human creativity, spiritual vision, and architectural ingenuity. Between 1974 and 1984, community builders crafted this iconic structure—hand-built with loving intention, using natural materials and ecological building practices, reflecting the core ethos of “work is love in action.”

A Home for Inspiration
Over the decades, the Universal Hall has hosted many transformative performances and gatherings, fostering spiritual and artistic growth, such as; The Waterboys, Joan Armatrading, Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Duncan Chisholm, Karine Polwart ,Joanna Macy, Paul Hawken, Eckhart Tolle, Caroline Myss, Vandana Shiva, Charles Eisenstein, David Spangler, Dorothy McLean, Satish Kumar, E.F. Schumacher, Alistair MacIntosh, Paul Allen, Jonathan Dawson, John Seed.
These are only a few of the voices and energies that have echoed through its rafters, weaving the Universal Hall into the tapestry of global spiritual and cultural heritage.
Today, with its warm and welcoming Phoenix Cafe Bar, the Hall continues to host concerts, workshops, retreats and festivals, and also functions as a thriving community hub for events such as the local enterprise fair and community meetings.

A Venue You Can Hire
Looking for a unique, inspiring venue for your next event? The Universal Hall offers a versatile, hand-crafted and adaptable set of spaces, steeped in history and creativity.
Lovingly built, it features inspiring stone masonry, a living roof, and a stunning stained glass window that together add to its magic and sense of wonder.

Our main Auditorium seats up to 350 people for concerts, talks, or conferences. Renowned for its excellent acoustics, it has hosted performers and speakers from around the world.

There is a smaller adjoining area suitable for workshops, seminars, breakout or parallel sessions.

We also have a foyer/social area – a welcoming space for arrivals, informal gatherings, and catering. We can cater for up to 100 people for seated meals.
We regularly host outside events and look forward to discussing your needs and welcoming you to The Universal Hall.
